Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI®) Form M
The MBTI® is a personality inventory. Isabel Myers' unique implementation of Carl Jung's theory of psychological type, the MBTI® determines preferences on four dichotomies: Extraversion-Introversion, Sensing-Intuition, Thinking-Feeling, and Judging-Perceiving. The various combinations of these preferences result in 16 unique personality types and characteristics that influence the way people interact with each other. Learn your type as a guide for further self-discovery and career exploration.
The Strong Profile, College Edition
This is an interest inventory for career planning that utilizes an individual's MBTI©. Provides a personalized overview of General Occupational Themes in six broad areas, Basic Interest Scales in 25 specific areas or activities, Occupational Scales across a wide range of occupations, and Personal Style Scales in four specific areas. Plus academic majors linked to interests.
4-Year career plan
Every incoming student should generate his or her personal 4-year career plan. It is important to acknowledge the steps that you need to complete each year. By remaining on track, you will increase your chances of securing a job prior to graduation.
A general 4-year career plan is as follows:
- Freshman: Evaluate your interests, abilities, and values and research careers that excite you.
- Sophomore: Explore possible academic areas and decide on the best major for you.
- Junior: Gain experience in your selected field of study and begin thinking about options for after graduation.
- Senior: Decide on your post-graduation plans and begin researching companies and jobs, grad schools, or voluntary service opportunities.
Make an appointment with Marla to create your own 4-year career plan.
Career counseling
Career counseling can be helpful to students of all classes. Most freshmen are still uncertain as to a major when beginning college. Even those who think they know their major often change.
It is critical that a student consider his or her interests, personality, abilities, values, strengths, weaknesses, and motivations when choosing their career path. An understanding of these internal characteristics will open the door to a career of personal satisfaction and happiness.
The Career Center offers several services to assist students in learning about themselves. The Strong Interest Inventory and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator are two of the tools available. In addition, there are a number of books with this same focus.
Please stop by the Career Center or call the director to set up your own career counseling session.
