The Sand Creek Trail Committee has been largely responsible for the expansion of Sand Creek Trail, establishment of Memorial Grove and the plantings in Arbor Lane. But these developments would not have been possible without the work of numerous community volunteers and support from Bethel College and the City of North Newton.
Private donations have met all costs of establishing these areas. Additional financial resources and labor are required to continue the maintenance. One method of supporting Sand Creek Trail is to purchase a memorial brick to be placed in the entrance walkway to Memorial Grove. Cost of placing a brick engraved with the name(s) of those to be memorialized is $1,000. Several donors may jointly contribute to meeting the $1,000 figure for a particular brick.
To volunteer labor, contribute funds or purchase a brick, contact Fred Goering in the Bethel College Office of Development at (316) 284-5226 or by e-mail. Checks, made payable to Bethel College, may be sent to Sand Creek Trail, Bethel College Office of Development, 300 East 27th Street, North Newton, KS 67117. Donations are tax-deductible.
