Jason Moore to lead Bethel College soccer programs

NORTH NEWTON, KAN. – Bethel College Athletic Director Diane Flickner has announced the hiring of Jason Moore to head up the men’s and women’s soccer programs.

A graduate of Eastern Mennonite University in Harrisonburg, Va., Moore began his coaching career in 1999 as an assistant women’s soccer coach at his alma mater, where he helped start the women’s program, compiling a 55-33-4 record over five seasons.

Moore spent the last two seasons as a volunteer assistant coach (goal-keeper coach) for the women’s soccer program at NCAA Division I James Madison University in Harrisonburg where, this past season, the Dukes finished 17-5-1.

Since July 2007, Moore became director of coaching for the Harrisonburg Soccer Association, which serves youth teams from U6 to U18. From 2005-06, Moore served as the director of coaching for the St. Vrain Express Soccer Club in Longmont, Colo.

Moore was head women’s soccer coach at NCAA Division III DeSales University in Center Valley, Pa., during the 2004 season. Moore also served as the head girls soccer coach at Eastern Mennonite High School for the 2003 and 2004 seasons. While there the program put together a 33-3 record including an 18-0 record during the 2004 season. Moore was selected as the Blue Ridge Conference Coach of the Year for both seasons.

As a student-athlete at EMU, Moore was a four-year letter winner and a member of two Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championship teams, in 1996 and 1998. The 1998 team finished the season ranked 16th in the NCAA Division II poll. Moore holds Top Five rankings in career points and career goals scored at EMU, as well as the school record for assists.

Moore graduated from EMU in 1999 with a B.S. in recreation and sports leadership with a concentration in movement sciences. His professional development includes a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Premier Diploma and an NSCAA National Goal Keeper Diploma. He serves as an NSCAA regional staff instructor.

I am excited to lead the team’s growth both on and off the field.”
