Bethel’s most widely viewed public face has gotten a makeover. Go to www.bethelks.edu and see for yourself. Perhaps more important, if you know a student who’s looking at colleges, direct her/him there. The site has a new design, new navigation systems and many new features – such as an online application form, interactive admissions counselor locator map, 360-degree view of campus, interactive calendar and RSS feed – and content has been extensively updated.
The Web site has been a priority for Lori Livengood, director of marketing and institutional communications, since she began in the position a little more than a year ago. Brian Stucky ’02, network administrator and Webmaster, has put in many extra hours developing the new site, which has been built from the ground up by Bethel staff specifically for Bethel College. The Web project got a boost when Alissa Cyphers ’98 began in mid-January as full-time Web editor, a position that ensures that the site will be kept up-to-date. Erin Schmidt ’03, communications coordinator, located and cropped the more than 600 images that appear on the site and Melanie Zuercher, institutional communications writer/editor, assisted in writing content and editing pages.
Students were also instrumental to the development of the site providing feedback at various stages as well as actual work on the site. Institutional Communications student assistants Adam Gaeddert, senior from Hutchinson, compiled and posted to the site most of the academic content, and Tyler Goertzen, senior from Hesston, served as man on the street conducting informal surveys and focus groups with students.
Institutional Communications and IT staff are eager to hear from users about what they like or don’t like about the site, as well as mistakes or omissions they might find. Feel free to use the “Send us a note” link when you visit the new www.bethelks.edu.
