In 2012, Bethel College will be celebrating its 125th anniversary. Festivities are scheduled for each Fall Festival leading up to 2012, as well as several dates in between. 9 a.m.–4 p.m.Remember hall slides, making s’mores in the Haury fireplace, pigeons in the bathroom? Relive the best moments of college dorm life by viewing photographs at Fall Festival 2009. Alumni and friends of the college are invited to lend original or copied photos or even whole scrapbooks from personal collections for this one-day display. This and other features of Fall Fest 2009 celebrate the 125th anniversary of the college in 2012.

Buy a Piece of History
Thresher Bookstore
9 a.m.–3 p.m.Buy a piece of history this year — a small, solid brass threshing stone mounted on limestone from the Administration Building! Only 125 of the limitededition, numbered collectibles are being created to celebrate Bethel’s upcoming 125th anniversary. The brass replica is approximately 3 inches long by 1 1/2 inches high, mounted on stone cut from two bottom steps that needed to be replaced this past summer.
Pieces #1, #2 and #3 will be auctioned off in front of the Ad Building at 11:57 a.m. (see listing below); the last piece, #125, will be sold at an anniversary celebration in 2012. All others are for sale for $100 each. Stop by the bookstore or the display table in front of the Ad Building and take home a piece of Bethel history!

Audiovisual Presentation: ”1935—When Bethel Was Young“
Krehbiel Auditorium, Fine Arts Center
1–2:30 p.m.Robert Kreider ’39, professor emeritus of peace studies, will recall the campus he encountered as an entering freshman in fall 1935. The retrospective will include images and commentary about a campus in the shadow of the Great Depression — the era of FDR and Bethel president Ed G. Kaufman, and a time of rising expectations. Audience will be invited to share their memories. Also at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4. Free admission.
