Alumni Mentor Project

Marla Krell in Career Services coordinates alumni mentoring. The project – a work in progress – seeks to recruit a worldwide group of alumni volunteers willing to communicate with Bethel students as those students consider a choice of major and future career path.

Serving as an alumni mentor is an opportunity to give something back to Bethel and, more specifically, to current students through the donation of time and the wisdom of experience. Contact can be by phone, e-mail or in person, depending on the students’ schedule and availability of the mentor. Mentors may be asked to:

All interested alumni are encouraged to sign up by contacting the Office of Career Services or indicating their interest through the Share Address Updates and Special News page.

Career Night

Bethel’s annual Career Night is another opportunity for alumni to interact with students about job options and professions. The Student Alumni Association, Office of Alumni Relations and Career Services have hosted Career Night each November since 1995. The Wednesday evening event includes a meal for alumni at 6 p.m., followed by a career fair in Memorial Hall from 7:30-9 p.m. This year's event is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010, in Memorial Hall.

Alumni professionals are invited to represent their professions and life experience as they sit at tables in Mem Hall gym and students stop by to visit. Many alumni bring displays and literature to share with students as well as prizes for a drawing held at the end of the evening.

Alumni who are interested in volunteering should contact the Office of Alumni Relations. Alumni mentors who are able travel to campus on a weekday night are encouraged to sign up, too.
