Joel Goering '04
After graduating, Joel worked for two years with Mennonite Voluntary Service in Kansas City, Kan. serving with Rosedale Development Association, a non-profit community development corporation. After MVS, Joel worked at Rainbow Mennonite Church, continuing his position at Rosedale as well. Through his community development work, Joel helped launch the Rainbow Mennonite Children's Defense Fund Freedom School. Joel went on to pursue his MBA at the University of Texas at Austin with a concentration in Social Enterprise and a certificate in Non-Profit Studies. Currently, Joel is a Finance/Accounting Consultant with EdOps, where he gives back-office business management support to Washington D.C.-area public charter schools.
Jason Schmidt '04
Jason signed up for Mennonite Voluntary Service in La Jara, Colo. following graduating from Bethel. During his service placement, Jason interned with various sustainable agriculture projects in southern Colorado and northern New Mexico, all of which were primary involved in the production and cooperative marketing of organic vegetables and grass-fed beef. During this time, Jason also supported a Mennonite Central Committee initiative to provide agriculture assistance to North Korean farms. After MVS, Jason completed his Masters in Plant and Environmental Science at Clemson University (S.C.). After completely graduate school in 2009, Jason worked as a Field Organizer for the Kansas Rural Center where he provided technical assistance and organized education opportunities. Jason is currently a full-time farmer, working his family's farm east of Newton, where he is able to use his alternative farming knowledge into practice.
Heidi Holliday '06
Heidi currently works at Rosedale Development Association. As the Healthy Kids Initiative Program Manager, Heidi runs a childhood obesity prevention program that focuses on change through community and environmental factors. Heidi is also working on her Master of Public Administration in Non-Profit Management at the University of Missouri- Kansas City.
Nathaniel Yoder '10
Nathaniel graduated from Bethel with a double major in Bible and Religion and Music and a minor in Peace, Justice, and Conflict Studies. His choral composition on 1 Peter 3:15 was the winning composition for 2012 Kansas Music Educators Association. He is currently an adjunct professor of percussion at Hesston College and works as a Police Response Advocate for Harvey County's Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Task Force.
