Clinical and Counseling Studies
The liberal arts education gives the necessary broad-based perspective crucial to effectively helping people with their problems. This perspective includes written, oral and computer skills, analytic abilities and the kinds of content relevant to such work from the natural and social sciences along with the humanities.
This Clinical and Counseling Studies Certificate program is highly focused, with only five essential courses. It consists of fairly equal parts theory and practice. Almost all courses include both. This certificate can be easily added to an existing and relevant major (e.g., psychology, social work, education, Bible and religion, business).
The courses making up this certificate program are both independent and interrelated. This allows you to appreciate the essentials of clinical and counseling work, while also highlighting for you the differences in the various disciplines represented in each of the courses. This program can enhance or strengthen a helping professions-oriented course of study.
