Internships/Research
Several students of the last few years have received grants for undergraduate research. Such projects are designed by students and closely assisted by faculty advisors. Since 2002, Bethel math students have worked on projects in knot theory, corridor geometry, fair division theory and theoretical astrophysics.
Internships have also allowed some math students to gain some practical experience in preparation for careers and graduate studies. For example:
- Two students had actuarial internships with Cigna Insurance in Hartford, Conn.
- One student had an REU (Research Experience for Undergraduates) at the University of Illinois in summer 2005 in the department of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics.
