Forensics and debate
We have a long history of success in our forensics and debate programs at Bethel. In fact, Bethel is one of only seven schools in the nation to qualify for the American Forensics Association National Individual Events Tournament each year since its inception in 1977. And our parliamentary debate teams have consistently earned national raking in season sweepstakes and advancement to elimination rounds at the national tournament. Another plus is that we fully fund travel and competition expenses for our forensics and debate teams.
KBCU-FM 88.1
KBCU is our 150-watt student-operated radio station. Through KBCU you'll have opportunities in production, announcing, news reporting, sports casting, stations management and marketing.
The Collegian
The Collegian is our award-winning campus newspaper. The Collegian consistently wins awards from the Kansas Collegiate Press Association and the Associated Collegiate Press, from which it has frequently received First Class designation.
Theater
In addition to courses in theater, Bethel's Theater Department offers students a variety of opportunities to participate on stage and behind the scenes in several productions each year including plays, musicals and an opera every other year.
RTV Lab
Housed in the basement of the Mennonite Library and Archives, the Radio-Television (RTV) Lab is an audio & video production and broadcast facility. The RTV Lab is the home of the Newton Channel (Cox cable channel 7). A number of hands-on opportunities are available to students, including facilitating the recording and production of Bethel athletic events, music performances, lectures and events.
